On the occasion of the conference dedicated to Amedeo Avogadro and the scientific culture of the first half of the 19th century (held in Turin and Vercelli on June 20-21, 2006), l’Accademia delle Scienze of Turin and the Institute and Museum of the History of Science of Florence have initiated a project aimed at the providing online consultation of the printed works and manuscripts of the noted Piedmontese scientist.
Access to the digital collection is available via a structured list or by searching the library's OPAC. Digital acquisition of the documents is carried out at 400 DPI 8-bit (TIFF, jpeg2000 or PNG ) greyscale. For online consultation, the resolution is 150 DPI jpeg 80% (enlargements max 600 pixels, jpeg 80%).
For input of the metadata, which allow consultation of texts through a structured index, the MAG format has been utilized.
