The scientific activity of Giorgio Roster (1843-1927) covered a great range, including medicine, climatology, and mineralogy. His experimental work brought him into contact with the early use of photography, which he appreciated immediately as an essential aid to scientific research and instruction. This first digital library version dedicated to his contributions clearly demonstrates his varied interests.
Digital acquisition of the documents has been carried out at 400 DPI 24-bit (TIFF, jpeg2000 or PNG) color. For on-line consultation, there is a resolution of 150 DPI, jpg 80% (enlargement 600 pixels, jpg 80%) while for input of the metadata, which allow consultation of texts through a structured index, the MAG format has been utilized.
