Description Terrestrial telescope consisting of nine sections. All the tubes are made of cardboard; the largest, which contained the objective (missing), is covered in green leather with gilt decorations, while all the other tubes are covered with red marbled paper. The eyepiece (now missing) was in the smallest tube. The erector survives, consisting of two lenses and placed in a small tube inside the smallest section. From its characteristics the instrument can be considered a typical terrestrial telescope of Italian manufacture from the late seventeenth century. |
