Beautiful Minds is the only Italian venue of the major exhibition produced by the Nobel Museum in Stockholm on the occasion of the first centenary of the Nobel Prizes (2001).
The exhibition - which met with extraordinary success in Tokyo, Seoul, Houston and Kuala Lumpur - is now coming to Florence, where it will be hosted in the magnificent Palazzo Strozzi. After Florence the exhibition will be presented in New York City, Los Angeles, London and Berlin.
The exhibition presents fundamental aspects of creativity in the sciences and literature in the 20th century, showing films and featuring original objects, master works and documents related to the activities of the over 700 Nobel Laureates from 1901.
The main topic of the exhibition is the relationship between individual creativity and creative milieus.
As the initiative reveals the high recognition given to the most creative research activities, the event is of great prestige, high institutional value and huge educational potential, especially for the younger generation - thanks to special educational programmes.
The Italian presentation is promoted by the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza, the Municipality of Florence and Firenze Mostre S.p.A., under the high patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and the auspices of the Ministry of Education and University and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
The Florence venue is enriched with a new section about the 19 Italian Nobel Laureates, produced by the Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza and promoted by the Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze. This section, accompanied by a scientific catalogue, is of great importance as it offers the first opportunity to present the notable number of Italian Nobel Laureates.
