PAUL RICHARD BLUM
The Principles
of Nature according to Benedictus Pererius and the Philosophy of Nature
of his Times
As it is known, the De communibus rerum principiis of the Jesuit
Benedictus Pererius was intended to become a teaching book for Jesuit
universities. However, one aspect of it has been neglected, so far,
namely that it also strives to integrate and to replace the non-aristotelian
philosophy (e.g. Telesio). In doing so it allows this strain of philosophy
to merge with peripatetic thought.
